IMHO... I think all you people who say (put exhaust system here) is "rice", need to do a side-by-side comparison with a true "rice" car. Listen to both of them in person. I guarantee y'all will think twice about any exhaust system on our V6's F-Bodies.

Opinions are like *******s, everybody has one. This topic has been beat to death for YEARS and it gets boring everytime! :( If you want to know which is best or what sounds better, listen to them in person or just buy one. If you don't like the way it sounds... don't buy it, sell it, or send it back.

Another great way to compare exhaust systems is to attend some of these National F-Body Events! Try Atlanta G6 (I met a couple of CZ28.com guys at G5... Fin, Rich W68, Rich D., and some others) or GM's 36th F-Body Birthday Celebration or F-Body.org's National Event (they have a V6 list now). Each event has over 100 F-bodies (Atlanta G5 had 200+) and would be a great way to check out each others exhaust systems and other mods in person.

I can tell you right now that my LS1 Borla cat-back and Rich D's V6 Borla cat-back sounds totally different. Slight variances in the same system totally change the exhaust note.

The ONLY true way to determine your opinion on an exhaust system is to hear it in person!

      Just my 2¢! :D Peace!

from my personnal experience, not going by my opinion im going by experience. i had the borla it sounded decent with headers but my triflow sounds way better and deeper with the headers. i would pick triflow over borla anyday. my friend has flowmaster it doesnt sound much different than my other friends honda civic cant say about spintech because i never had it but all ill say about it is you get what you pay for

I agree borla does not sound that great on a v6. I have had flowmaster and dynomax the dynomax was the best by far

I think its more the way our manifolds are designed that causes that *sound* than anything. With headers and a 3" catback and hiflo cat, almost any muffler should sound great :D

Yes, that and the firing order of our cylinder heads.

But i agree w/ cardinal, a complete exhaust system will provide a decent sound regardless of muffler.

But for reasons already mentioned i have no complaints about my triflow.

My Borla sounds just okay... I'm probably going to get the Edelbrock catback for the 3.8 (I hope it fits the 3.4). I will most likely be selling the borla muffler in a few months on this site.

How many of you people that trash borla have ever heard it? Most of you just pass around information that you have heard from other people. I have had borla for a while now and I think it sounds great. Borla just has a different tone than most exhaust. It also sounds totally different with the different plates. Some people like it a lot, other people don't. You can't take other people's advice, because what they like you may not.I haven't heard to many other exhausts on a v6 firebird, so I won't say anything. I just hate in when people trash things that they have no experience with.

I heard a soundclip of Borla on a 3.8 from someone on this forum... can't remember who though. It had a cutout or something like that. He had 2 sound clips... one opened, and one closed. I gotta admit, with it opened, it sounded so awesome! At high rpms, it still sounded low.

As for Flowmaster 80's... No comment! It just wasn't made for my car! I need something new. If I could easily blast 600 bucks, I'd go with a Borla/BB Triflo. But I have heard a Dynomax on an older 2.8 v6, and I gotta say, it sounded WAY better than my 80. It's like 40 bucks on Jeg's, and they even have Dynomax cat's, so I'll look into this soon. This I can afford!

reading all of these posts i see most of you have 3.8s, I've come to the conclusion that many people like the sound of both dynomax and Edelbrock on the 3.8 but will they sound good on the 3.4 also

(i understand its all in opinion....well tell me your opinions then ;) )

My exhaust sounds AND performs really well. I have a Flowmaster Crossflow Muffler with dual outlets and 3" chrome tips and a highflow Magnaflow catalytic converter (no pipe changes). The cat lets all the air through you need without losing backpressure too much and that extra air coming through makes the flowmaster sound sweet! All in all my exhaust setup has cost me $375 and I love it! (I do have a SLP intake and custom ram air too, but it still sounded great without the ram air, the ram air just added a little more tone to it) I ran a 96 Firebird two days ago with only and SLP intake and I pulled ahead about a carlength and a half from 0-50 and stayed about the same distance the rest of the way, so I think it works pretty well) Just my .02

Proud owner of a 95 3.4 here! I just got my dynomax catback with 2.5 pipe from converter put on yesterday, when I started it I got chills...deep, throaty and no rice at all!...The guy at the shop wants to go straight to the manifolds with the pipe but I am goin to order some pacesetter headers then gut the cat and he is going to run the pipe straight to the headers without any restrictions! He just told me to take the cat off before I brought it in cuz he can't take it off, but he cant do anything about it if it dont have one when it comes to his shop! So my dynomax is gonna only get better!
