  • POS starter, bad sounds

When I start my car I can hear the starter have a high pitched bzzzzzzzzz sound.
It doesnt do anything but make that sound.

I'm thinking maybe I have a bad alternator and not having enough battery volts has crapped out the starter.

Also I've been running High ECT temps (250F). Sometimes it will die(I dont know what Engine OverTemp is set at, but it has never OverTempted).
I cant see any leaks in my cooling system anymore, I have no freakin clue why it heats up sooo much with both fans running.

If the battery was too low to crank the car it would make a click...click..click sound. Sounds to me like the starter has craped out. As for the coolant temp... in my oppion 250 is very hot and i would not drive the car. My guess with out looking at it, would be the t-stat.

i used to have a e-murray (oreilly) POS 160 Thermo, it was always stuck OPEN and the same overheating occured, now i switch back to the stock 195F and the same thing is still happening, so its not the t-stat.

Should I buy ACDelco or Duralast? Duralast is cheaper and comes with a lifetime warranty, so the answer is clear.

No, if your car is over heating the t-stat would be stuck closed, not open.

When you put the heater on, do you have heat, does it drop the engine temp?

no, i think whenever i have adequate water in my cooling system, then the heater will work.
most times, its just blowing cool, probably cause no water. gggrrrrrrrrr

            thanks!

Ive never replaced a water pump on a camaro, im not sure how they are made. It sounds like your not pumping water.

Also make sure the radiator is clean, not clogged with bugs, or have a plastic bag over it. When the car is running, touch the side of the radiator, is it hot?

                    lol

which side of the radiator. I understand ya.
No, when I turn on the heater, it doesnt drop the temp at all.

dammit, I bought the zzp water pump lightweight overdriven pulley so that my freakin water pump would last longer!!!! LOL

I guess I shouldnt buy an Electric w/p. cause that would drain HP and electrical power.
I heard that all the conversions an electric w/p requires, just uses more HP than a manual would.

i have a hard time seeing how a mechanical water pump can go bad

Yes, i know, i feel the same way, but every thing you say, no heater, car over heats. I just sounds to me like your not pumping water. Also i would not use no overdrive pullys. Also i would stick with a stock style altinator, i have always had them and have never had a problem with them. I have known several people with high profomance and very expensive ones and they dont seem to hold up as well.
