oh and i have a high flow cat, but is it even worth putting on, i know i'll throw a code but is it worth the HP gains, and does it change the sound quality?
sounds nice at idle, but when I get on it, it sounds bad. But I am after power and not sound when it is open.

different cat will change sound, yes. ANY MOD to the exhaust will change sound....

      Re: headers

ok thanks, my final question is pipe diameter? I HAVE purchased 3" mufflers, cat, and tips..but is that too big? what would change between going smaller or staying bigger?

        Re: headers

your powerband will shift depending on what you go with.

Future mods and plans for the car play a role in the decision.

          Re: headers

what would you suggest..what's on the car now is a custom CAI, B&M shift kit, and some other things non performance related

but future plans are exhaust, obviously, rear end gears, probably 3.42s, maybe switch to a posi rear end, and farther down the road, cam/heads.

              cutout, performance-wise, pre-cat, sound-wise post-cat.

I have my cutout right after the ypipe, before my cat and it is ubber loud and shakes the car. But then again I have a full fledged built engine with cam and all so my sound is gonna be a bit louder
I was cutting off the y-pipe and had to adjust the position of the car. I had barely opened up the pipe and it was pretty dern loud already.

A free flowing exhaust could throw a code. One way to avoid throwing the code is to turn the key to the on position. This will heat the o2's so that they do not throw a code when you start the car.
