MODERATOR: since a loss of backpressure comes with using a larger pipe (like you 3'') how did you combar the problem? Did you use smaller tips or sumthin? I'm trying to get a Dynomax on there now because of all the praise I hear by 3.4l owners, but was wondering what i can do as far as piping/cutouts to give it the deepest possible sound without loosing performance. THANKS.

used to be pacesetter header, gutted cat, flowmaster 3in catback, now I don~t have headers anymore but I think it actually soudns better without them

So what are you running now? Stock headers?

The system was stock from the cat forward. The 3" I-pipe was custom & non-Mandrel bent. It was a gamble to see how it performed both w/the cutout open & closed, but track times proved that the car suffered no loss in e/t or mph w/the cutout open, and was actually quicker & faster by usually .5-1.0mph and .10 in the 1/4. 60ft times were roughly the same, open or closed.

*RICH: It is only the Flowmaster 80 single in/dual out. No headers, no hi-flo cat, stock exhaust size until the Flows. It isn't insanely loud, but loud enough to get attention. ;) The secret? Get your cam/timing done. I have a custom program...well Hypertech, lol. That's what makes it different. Without custom timing/aggressive cam the sound would be kinda plain.

I believe you can do all the mods in the world to the engine, but you won't get your full potential (and sound) unless your timing is right.

Sweet sound! It sounds deep. I wish mine would sound like that. Is that recorded in the car or outside?

"The hatch was open and the mic/laptop sat on the gas tank shelf."

This was outside, using a Sony Laptop and its internal mic. The laptop sat right on the shelf of the gas tank with the hatch open. There was no DSP or equalizing of the sound. It was recorded as a WAV file in stereo at CD quality using Sound Recorder, edited, then compressed into a 128kbit MP3 using Nero Wave editor.

Like I said earlier, get custom timing/programming. ;)

Well before I got banged it was forward headers, turbo, stainless steel downpipe, no cat and 3" borla. :D

Sounded GREAT from idle to redline, espicially when the turbo kicked in. ;)
