• Moment of truth...whose 3.4L sounds best??!

Before I buy an aftermarker muffler, I wanted to see who thinks they have put together the BEST sounding 3.4L V6? What do you guys have (catback, cat/no cat, brands) and do you have pics or sound clips.

If you are going for sound alone, go with headers to a gutted cat(or no cat) to a 3 inch I pipe to the borla rear section. I have just the borla rear section right now, but Ive heard a 3.4 with the whole 3 inch setup and it sounded really nice. If you arn't worried about the whole backpressure deal, go for the 3 inch I pipe.

borla=600 dollar cutout with cool tips

I love how mine sounds, but everyone has their own opinion.

used to be pacesetter header, gutted cat, flowmaster 3in catback, now I don~t have headers anymore but I think it actually soudns better without them

I have a bola muffler on my car right now... no I-pipe or anything. I am going to throw on an edelbrock catback or a pacesetter tfx kat back setup with headers and a highflow cat all in one shot... the borla looks okay if you're into that quad-tip exhaust... the car sounds pretty good... sorta like a V8 at idle but then has that higher pitched rev.

You are going to hate the Pacesetter TFX catback if you already have a Borla. I have one with less than 10,000 miles on it sitting in my garage.

I'll put a link up tonight with a clip from my Borla.

I think my spintech sounds the best. I have a 3inch high flow cat, 3inch i pipe, custom made y pipe, and 3inch inlet 2.5inch dual outlet spintech muffler.

ive got a coupla sound files of what a stock 3.4L motor with just 1.6 roller tipped rocker arms, K&N FIPK, and 3" S-pipe back Flowmaster Dual-Exit Exhaust sound like.

when i get access to my server (stupid dns) ill post the files in here, so keep watching.

                --edit--

                here ya go:
the quality isnt perfect, but then again i was using some cheapy mini-tape recorder i got for 20.00 so go figure ;) heheh.

Clip 1 - Sitting in the drivers seat under a carport with the door open.

Clip 2 - Car still in carport, i walked about 2 feet behind the car, and held the recorder about my chest level while my wife sat in the car and applied the gas a little.

                --edit--

                hope that works for ya.

Is the pacesetter cat back a piece of junk? I was considering getting it. Where could I get a 3" high flow cat to go with it, the one with the ball type connection on rear and slip on in the front? Is the front slip on 3" as well?

Well here's my sound clip. The hatch was open and the mic/laptop sat on the gas tank shelf. It starts out accelerating to 2000 rpms and then peaks at 3200 rpms like I shifted into 2nd. Then I let off the gas just to hear the Flowmaster "pop", hehehehe. :D The last 5 seconds is idle. My mods are all listed in the sig.

                              Thanks for the plug T

I'll add that I had a Dynomax muffler, but with the cutout open, alot of the exhaust was being dumped before the muffler. It sounded pretty good closed, too.
