I dont know what sounds all that great on a 3.4 but you will never get it sounding like an 8. Don't let that be your goal

straight-piping it would be about the closest, a longshot, but about the closest

I personally feel the BEST system for the 3.4 --- being OBD1 --- is a setup with headers.. Whether its RKSport or PaceSetter, doesn't matter.. With a 3" pipe back (no cat converter) to a flowmaster 80 series Muffler that has a 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlets. The SLP sounds OK on the V6s... Pretty much just makes it loud as ****, but the chambered setup of the 80 series gives it more of an aggressive tone for a V6 if you ask me.

I had Flowmaster 80 series on the 94 Camaro I use to have and loved it.

magnaflow is amazing, it's hard to describe. smooth deep tone, then you get on it and it really screams. no rice sound, not raspy, straight trough design, very low back pressure.

it's sweet

When I had my 92 3.1,(very similar to the 3.4) I had a full dynomax catback in 2.5 mandrel bent pipe. Walker Cat, and dual/dual tips. It sounded amazing. Deep and throaty, even better than my 3.8.

This topic has been discussed many times, and you will never get a definant answer.

If you really want some good opinions, go out to a local fbody club, and talk to people there, cause you will be able to juge for yourself.

I have A resonator for a cat and three inch piping to a Dynomax superturbo muffler,It sounds very good, like a 8.But you will never get that exact sound from a 3.4.And diffentinatly not from a 3.8.

Don't listen to these jealous 3.8 owners who say it will never sound like a V8
My car has been mistaken a million times for an 8... current setup is a magnaflow high flow cat, 3" exhaust, flowmaster muffler... tomorrow pacesetter headers are being put on. I will let you know the difference with the headers if you want, but even without them my car sounds damn good for a V6.

I have a 3.4 and have a borla muffler. I think mine sounds EXACTLY like a V*, and If I could take a sound clip, yall would ALL agree. I like my borla about a million times better than flowmasters. Once you get above idle in a flowmaster you know you have a V6. But you cant tell on mine till about 2500. JMO though. Good luck, I would reccomend magnaflow or borla.

That's funny, with my flowmaster you can't hardly tell at any RPM.
At 2500rpm mine sounds just as deep as idle... I have really crappy sound clips on my computer at school I can post. I don't know how to get the audio off my camera so it always ends up sounding like a** :(
