Keep the rice population under control my a$$, I have a friend that has a full exhaust system on his car. IE Headers, resonator inplace of the cat, greddy catback, and my car with stock pipes, highflow cat and flowmaster 80 series is a lot louder than his.

I think the law is stupid IMO. It's not fare how a friggen Harley can rattle the hell out of my house windows at idle and be legal, and my measly v6 can't have a catback that isn't half as loud. I would see it preventing against a loud loping V8, but that's it.

Maybe you should get Z28 badges. The cops around here seem to think I have a Z. I don't have the badges, but I also have only one chrome tip. At low rpm I sound really close to a SS so they probably think it's stock.

A buddy of mine got a citation too. What he did was, bought some exhaust extenders or something like that (they're like bendable metal pieces), crimped one end down so there was only a small opening, stuffed the inside with steal wool, and clamped them on the end of his pipes. He went to the station to get it taken care of and they didn't even look at his car or test it. They just signed his paper saying it was fixed. So im not sure what this means to you, but it is a way to muffle the noise from your car. The law is that you have to have it under a certain decibal level. I believe you can find it on the DMV's site. I hope this helps you.

If you have it tested, and it is too loud, I would just put resonated tips on instead of changeing things.

That is because Cupertino is BORING...they probably got tired of hassling kids at Valco. HAHA...

My GF's GT is frikkin loud and she drives through Cupertino everyday with no prob. I'd say it is cuz you are Asian but then again so is she and so am I.

Dunno dude...I've never been harrassed about my exhaust...headlights yes, exhaust no. SJSU campus patrol tried to give me a ticket for setting off the alarms. Sounds like the cop was bored.

This is what I would do, find a way to temp. fix, it, pay the fine, and change it back. Chance goes that you will never get pulled over again.

Well I have good news. Do not take off your exhaust. There is a law in california about how loud your exhaust can be but from a flowmaster on a V6 is not illegal. Here is a website I found that gives you every california law on your car. I used it to find out about clear front turn signals. I got pulled over by a CHP a month ago and was writtne up for my clear front turn signals, my whisperlid and my license plate. I had to go to a state referree to get my car resmogged and put back to stock with my stock lid. After I had tha done I put my whisperlid back on. I only paid $10 to the court and another $38 for the smog check. Anyways dont put your stock exhaust back on till you take it to a stae referree and have them check it out. Heres the website you should chack out. No its only for california car laws.
