  • Whisper lid install

I just purchased a used lid and I am about to install it, is there anything special that needs to be done after its in? Will it run propererly with the increases airflow? My car is stock besides this lid and K n N replacement filter.

Useless post is useless. He already has a lid. :P

To the OP, nothing special needs to be done. Since you got a used lid the grommet for the IAT sensor should already be in place. Just make sure all the tabs on the back of the lid are lined up when you install it. Simple as that.

It didn't come with the grommet for the IAT but he said I could just use my stock one and just plug it in the the whisper lid. Will that work?

That's right. I forgot you just reuse your stock grommet. It can be a little tough to get in to the bung. A little grease will make this easier. Just make sure to clean it up before plugging the sensor in. You don't want to get anything on the tip of the sensor.

$329.99 is the cheapest I can find at WS6Store. Pretty sure I paid $250 shipped for a lid, SLP CAI, and filter for a good flowing sealed intake. IMO, that's a much better deal than that of the FIPK and SLP CAI, with the result of an open element intake that also pulls in hot air from the engine bay.

Can I just stick the sensor in the lid without the grommet, There isn't a stock grommet its just the sensor.

You don't have a grommet in the neck of your stock lid? If not, you'll need to get one. Otherwise, the sensor wont fit right and will cause a leak. You can pick one up at a local parts store or from the dealership for about $2. Part number is GM # 24504388.

If you look at the picture thats how it was when I pulled it out,so I can just buy that replacement one and stick it on the end of the sensor and it should fit in the whisper lid?
                        Thanks

I just used some generic grommet. Worked fine.

Like Bone said, just get a replacement and you'll be good. I'd suggest squeezing it into the bung on the neck of the lid first then plugging the sensor in. The grommet can be a tight fit sometimes and you don't want to damage the sensor trying to get it all in at once.
