So, you still have the same base for the stock air intake?

As far as I noticed, that was only major difference between just having an air silencer delete and the FIPK.

You get a little bit better flow with the one piece plastic connector, and the filter is "open" in the engine bay... Whereas with a whisper/shaved lid, you still have the filter covered.

The only difference I could foresee in IATs is the fact that your lid is fiberglass... different insulating properties from plastic.

I have my SS hood and the K&N in the drivers fenderwell, 3" flex tubing, hood has been drilled and cut for air flow to flow in and out the hood to help cool the engine, I had my AIT scanner on my Aeroforce scan gauge and at idle it was like 86 degrees close to outside temp then I got up to 60MPH and it slowly dropped to like 72-74 degrees. So thats a nice drop in temp just having it in the fender(but it it is in front so it catches alot of fresh air.)Coolant temp was about 175-180 degrees.

slp cai (or FTRA, same thing) with a whisper lid is my jam---too bad whisper can't get their sh*t together, bc there's a huge demand for them.

the fipk isnt bad, i just prefer the lid, see if you can find one on an individual sale, or fork out the cash for the k&n setup.

That's the K&N FIPK... It's been out for quite a while, fits 99-02 v6's, 98 has an angled throttle body and is kinda S.O.L. on the after market intake field.

If I remember right from the dyno sheet that came with mine last weekend, it's good for about 7hp at the wheels.

That was on a 2000 Camaro with 70k miles, if my memory serves me.
