  • How to remove pass side head O2 sensor?

I'm kinda at a loss on this one. What the best way to tackle this because it does not look like my knuckles are going to walk away from this one in one piece.

Looks like I'll need a set like this VVVV. Any advice?

I used an O2 socket and it was a major pain in the neck. I did get it out though.

Hmmm looks like I need a O2 sensor socket then. Yet another tool I didn't know existed.

Thanks, I'll pick one up first thing tomorrow.

Well, I got the socket and I can't not get the sensor to move. I could not get enough hand power on it so I rigged up a chain and a jack to try and all it did was bend the socket. Anything else I could try to loosen it up a little?

Well, I'm ****ed. The sensor nut head is stripping and Its still locked in there more than ever. only thing I can think of is to rap an oily rag around it and hope it seeps in.

I could really use some tips here guys.

try heating it up and hitting it. you don't have to hit very hard but make sure you hit low enough to not damage anything. as for the stripped sensor i'd try some vice grips. all else fails just go to an exhaust shop and have them cut it out and weld in a new bung.

Thanks guys. I'll try heating with a torch first. If that does not work I'll soak it.

If that does not work what I might do is fill a 7/8 socket with JB weld and let it set on the sensor. At this point all I want to do is get the stupid thing off. There is just so little room to work on these camaros.

yeah don't soak it first then use a torch you may start a fire :P

                        Sensor nut is stripped :(

There is no way this sensor is coming off. I even tried welding the socket to the sensor and it just broke the weld.

How hard is it to remove the exhaust manifold while in the engine bay? I've remove the whole engine before but never the manifold.

As a test I removed the sensor from my old engine to see how much force it took.....I needed a 2 foot breaker bar to get it off. I don't think there is any way to get this guy off while still in the engine bay.

the reason for it being stuck is because of all the heat cycling that's been done. you need to get the pipe glowing red with the torch and attach something to the sensor to loosen it up. wether you reweld a socket on, make sure to strip the coating off of it first. or vice grip it.

try pb blaster and vise grips if its rounded
