Re: how many repairs have you made on your f-body?
bought my 99 3.8 at 80,000 miles. only thing done to it at that time was the starter (at 20,000 miles), oil changes and interior door panels replacement (due cracked).
car now has 105,000 miles and here is what I've done (in no particular order)
valve cover gaskets
rear main seal
convert all oils to synthetic (rear end, power steering, trans, engine oil)
new front brake pads and rotors
new rear brake pads, rotors turned
Transmission:
- Sonnex TCC valve replacement
- Replace filter
Power antenna repair (lasted 1.5 years and is now broken again)
Passsenger sun visor repair
Coolant system flush and antifreeze replacement'
new tires
new rear shocks
replace one coil
replace spark plugs (still have original wires)
Fuel filter replacement
Alternator rebuild
new belt
replace drivers low beam headlight (would like to put in some silver stars but they don't make a set for my year)
replace fog lamps (with silver stars)
repair cracked/overheated front turn indicator/marker lights
restore rear wheel well undercoating
repair what looked like bullet holes in wheel passenger wheel well
Air Conditioning Compressor replacement (blew out last weekend and is going into the shop on Monday)
Remove debris from the heater fan. (it was a big rubber tree leaf. How can something that big get in there??)
So far with the milage that the car has on it and the work that I've had to do, in comparison to other cars that I've owned and some that family and friends have owned I would say that this car is above average in reliability. The Lemon Aid buyer guide rates the 99 as a recommended buy.
