I've been wondering along these same lines. I have a 1996 engine (3.8l..got everything i need..i think) im putting in my 1995 car(3.4L a4). The projected hp after cam, head work, full header back exhaust and very nice air intake is around 280hp.

I don't want to start any flame wars, this is a good topic. But I just had to step in and say 280 HP from a 3.8L engine with the mods you list is NOT accurate. People on this board with turbo's and supercharger's aren't even getting that much HP. (close to it though, from what I've read) In anycase, I don't know how you came up with that number, but don't expect that much HP.

On topic, fastchip is the biggest load of ****. They want $300 JUST to remove the speed limiter? I'm still looking to find a cheaper way to do it.

From the way I look at it, If a stock civic can go 125 MPH + ..then I would imagine these engines can get up there.

Trust me, 280hp at the crank, is easily done with those mods....

fully ported and polished heads (better valve springs too of course)

      ported intake to match

compcams stage I (computer compatible, stage 2 only gave a 5 more horsepower and lost 10ft/lbs of torque) ..cam alone put on 35hp and 40ft/lbs of torque at the flywheel

headers, no cat, straight out a dynomax superturbo muffler

3.25inch intake pipe with k&n on one side and MAF on the other

We've had very nice results before...this is a cinch. Im betting 245-255hp to the ground...but the question is still unanswered..can a dealership match the limiter to my tire rating?

Nope... just top speed numbers in perfect conditions. ;)

I know for my 01 maro, stock was 118, I added a Jet PCM and hit 120. At 120 my trannie shifted again, giving me a lot more pedal, however, at that time I didn't really want to go any faster. The road all of a sudden got really bumpy, and I was utilizing both lanes at that point so I slowed down. I recently added a cat back and intake. Time to see how fast I can get back up there and see where the car's and my limit is again. Really need to get some sort of sway bar installed to help with the bouncing. Sucks when you have a lot of pedal but can't use it.
