Also make sure that you know how to correctly set valve lash. If you need head studs for the 3.4, let me know. PM or E-mail me.

Okay I need a lil help... okay im lookin at the Haynes Manual and everything but there are some things I don't get. Okay for starters is says that I should tighten the Rocker arm nut on cylinder 1 Then after that I can adjust the intake valves now I have an issue.. If these heads were taken to a Machine Shop wouldn't they have did all of that concerning the Intake and exaust Valves?

they set the installed height of the valves. what you are adjusting is the amount of space in between the rocker flat and the valve tip. this needs to be just so for heat expansion.

Now that im thinkin about it I believe the Machine shop did all that I believe all I have to do is tighten the Rocker Arms. I have another question tho just for ****s in giggles what do they consider to be the lower intake manifold I know the upper is the thing that says 3.4 on it

Re: Head Questions for the 3.4L 965-4082

they didnt set lash. you have to do that when you install the rockers. if you were to just tighten the rockers down all the way, all the valves would be open, and stay open.

the lower intake is exactly what it is. the upper intake (plenum) bolts to the lower intake. the injectors are installed into the lower intake.

Actually no, you need to remove the pump bracket from the head. you dont have to remove the pump bracket entirely, but it makes life much easier and you can just lay to the side.

Just a heads up, the Chilton's manual goes into much better detail as far as setting the valve lash. If it is not done correctly, you will get a lot of ticking when the engine is running (if they are too loose).

Yes, it is the aluminum bracket that the pump bolts to and that the ignition control module bolts to.

Yep. you dont have to drain it, remove and hoses or anything. I pulled the engine from the top with motor mounts and headers, without taking the AC apart OR the power steering. Room for head removal shouldnt be a problem.

Guys just for help the Valve Lash is how tight the rocker arms are on the springs right. Because the manual stated to twist the bolt on the rocker arms until there is no play left then im to turn it 90 degrees more.... Is that Valve Lash?
