So how 'bout you just drive like a regular person? Contrary to what you may believe, the cops aren't going to crush your car if you're doing the speed limit and not driving like a maniac.

all it takes is one bad cop...like I said I was in the car when my buddy got pulled over and ****ed over with a ticket saying he was doing 150...when I can bet everything I own we were not...well 50 over the speed limit here is considered street racing...so that just proves you dont have to drive like a maniac... You could be minding your own buisness like we were

Yeah, I'm not a believer in the "One bad cop" theory. That's why they have traffic court. Doing more than 50 over should have been more than just a speeding ticket. Sounds like there's more to that story.

haha you want the whole story fine I'll type it allllll out...Ok so we are in my buddy's integra and we are coming home from the casino....were stuck behind an 18 wheeler in the right lane (there are only 2 lanes on this highway) While behind this 18 wheeler we (and every other car in our lane) are passing all the cars on the left...Sooo...as we approach the last car in the left lane (still behind the truck) I look over at his speedo and we are doing 90km/h...and I say to him "****, I hate when people can't drive...left lane is for passing, all these cars should be in the right lane there going slower then us, and were not even doing the speed limit" (100km/h) so...just as I say that we pass the last car and he pulls out into the left lane to proceed to pass the truck...he gives it a bit of gas doesnt floor it...we emerge from the 18wheeler to see a cop car sitting there, we are about 3/4 done passing the truck and the cop is pulling out...were both like w.e must be time for a coffee run lol...cop pulls right up behind us in a hurry and the lights are on...were like wtf now? so my buddy pulls over...cop comes over all pissed off tellin my buddy he doesnt know how to drive ( now my buddy is the quiet type so he just sat there and didnt say anything unless the cop asked him a question...didnt talk back, didnt question nothing...gives the cop his licence, insurance, and ownership...cop goes on again about how he cant drive and is going 150km/h, then walks off back to the car...were both kinda shaken up cause of the way the cop dealt with the whole thing...like he was super aggressive, I was thinkin about asking to see the radar gun but didnt, cause I didnt want to cause ****...Im kickin myself for that now...anyways the cop comes back and hands my buddy a ticket for 148 km/h over and says to him I reduced it to 148 so I dont have to suspend your licence now...but if you try and fight this in court I am going to have it amended before the trial even begins and I'll have your licence suspended before you even show up to court (which is a threat IMO...especially the way he said it)...gets back in his car and leaves

were both like wtf? he has a stock 94 integra...we pulled out to pass an 18 wheeler while doing 90...how the hell can anybody tell me we went from 90-150 in the length of an 18wheeler...:bs: ....further more...Im convinced he never even got us on radar...cause if he shot us behind the truck we're doing 90....he cant shoot through the truck...and there is no way he has the reaction time to shoot us and pull out to get us if we were infact doing 150...all by the time we were only 3/4 of a car infront of this truck

anyways we went to court, but my buddy of course couldnt afford a lawyer...and since hes not good with talking to people and gets really nervous he settled for 28km/h over and 3 points...despite the fact that I kept saying fight it, fight it, fight it...I can gurantee you we were not doing over MAX 115 if that...like I said, we werent driving all over the place...just minding our own buisness driving home, pulled out to pass a truck and BAM

So, hows that for justice? Like I said, I have nothing against cops, I respect them very highly, but bull**** like this gets me soo pissed off...and when they pass laws like crushing cars, or like in Ontario have your car impounded with no trial (the cop is the judge and jury) I get even more pissed...because wtf...you are always going to have that Jack *** in ANY job...and us being young and in sports cars are targets...HUGE TARGETS...I mean both of us are against street racing, when hes finally ready to race me next season were gunna drive 2.5 hours to the track thats it...no back streets and no roads...that is if he can still afford his insurance after this incident now...

This, first strike and your out is BS.

I am a fan of the police... but with any aspect in life there can be a bad seed and if one bad cop was having a bad day they could "say" the person was street racing and they really weren't.

I am an ex street racer.... I raced a HELL of a lot.... and was known for suckering newbies by saying it is just a v6...I think it is BS that my car could be potentially crushed just because I got on the gas a bit and someone thought I was racing.....I branched out into legal racing - at designated race tracks.

I now race only at legit tracks.
Agree with james 100%. 1st time offense should not result in impound. repeating offender = FTL

Sorry kiddo, but in America, you're innocent until proven guilty. Sounds like the problem here is your friend letting the police walk all over him and his rights. All he had to do was say "Your honor, I was going 90 KM/H, not 148," to which the judge probably would have asked for proof from the cop...which, if your story is true, he wouldn't have been able to produce. You don't walk into court having to prove your innocence, the cop is supposed to prove your guilt...and if your story is true, he shouldn't have been able to.

and us being young and in sports cars are targets...HUGE TARGETS
I'm going to raise the BS flag on that. My car is substantially louder than your car or your friend's integra, and I've never been pulled over while I was driving responsibly.

On the first part, completely true. When you go into court, to prove your guilt the cop that pulled you over actually has to be present in court or chances are you can walk away clean. Second step into proving your guilt, the officer has to have a log of him clocking you going at the speed he/she claims you were going, or again chances are you are going to walk away clean.

Now, to the second quote. It's a shame you never drive responsibly
But, I agree. I've never been targeted in my firebird. I've only been pulled over twice in my Firebird and both times were due to going 20 mph over the speed limit, so I would say they had some sort of reason to pull me over. In all honesty, my Firebird is the only vehicle I've ever owned that I didn't get pulled over religiously for suspicion.

If you want to get messed with, buy a Chrysler LHS, tint the windows, put 20's on it, and drop the body. You may get as lucky as me and get pulled over everytime you drive in through the city and get searched for drugs.

I've been followed...and by that I mean a cop on a couple of occasions has pulled a U turn and come right up on to my ***...so close im ducking down lookin in my rear view tryna see if his lights are on...for absolutely NO REASON

anyways when we went to court the actual charge was wrong...the charge they sent him was driving under suspension of the licence...which his licence has never been suspended...we asked the prosecuter about it and hes like aww thats nothing they'll just amend that...IMO it shoulda been tossed for that... The prosecuter then went on to tell my buddy that he has Very slim chances of beating the speeding ticket, as almost no one does...and if he doesnt take the plea bargain and looses in court he'll get the full 48 km/h over and the 350 something dollar ticket...now I was right beside my bud and Im like fight it...Its literally common sense we cant go this speed, damn I couldnt even pull those numbers at the track between the 1/8th and the 1/4 mile in my car...and a truck is not an 1/8th of a mile long...the prosecuter snapped at me and was like listen buddy this isnt your ticket...your *** isnt on the line so stay out of it...He knew my buddy was nervous...He told him again..."You have a very SLIM chance of beating this...its your word versus the cops, just take the plea"

so he did...and I was pissed like no tommorrow...especially watching him go to the stand infront of the judge and having the judege say so you plead guilty to doing 27 km/h over the speed limit? my buddies like yep...your absolutly sure you were doing that speed? yep...ok blah blah blah you know the rest...

I could NEVER do that...never will I stand in front of anyone and take a plea bargain and admit to something I know damn well I didnt do...but they took advantage of him and walked all over him cause they read him like a book

Im willing to bet we would have made that cop look dumb in trial, cause Im POSITIVE he had nothing to support himself...

man honestly if only you were there to see this all take place you would be like how the hell? Like I cant stress to you enough how much we are actually responisble drivers...we dont street race, we dont weeve in and out of traffic, and we dont drive like dumb asses...

And this is exactly the reason I don't let an appointed defense attorney represent me. They are all after the same tax dollars, it's how they make their income. Of course they are all out to get you when it comes to the county court room.

This is why I have a team of lawyers to represent me, 3 different ones, each for different things. I get screwed everywhere else in life, the one place I'm not going to stand for it is in a court room.

And as far as cops U-turning to follow you, it's called suspicion. The only problem with that is, a cop see's a car driving down the road, that sends his suspicion radar off So, I wouldn't worry much about it. Pull over, see if he pulls over behind you and turn the script on him and when he walks up to your window tell him you are making a citizens arrest for him making an illegal U-turn and endargering the safety of other drivers.

So? He didn't pull you, so what's the problem? Personally, I feel better having a cop tail me, cuz if I get in an accident that's someone else's fault, then I'll have the cop's testimony to back me up.

also I dont care how you put it, its your word versus a cops word in the end...as long as he sounds credible your SOL...its not a 50/50 thing here

and I was looking forward to seeing that cop in court...I was hoping he would show up cause we were gunna make him look real stupid...I had an aresnal of **** lined up against him...but it wasnt my battle, and my buddy got scared...so now I ask, is it ok to bully people into tickets they dont deserve now? cause thats what happened here...cop threatened him what would happen if he fought it, presectuer did the same thing...they both deserve a punch in the face imo cause there lying pieces of ****...with that being said I cant wait for the day when that same cop tries to give me a ticket cause I will end his career as a cop and have him discharged if he ever pulled a stunt like that on me...

like I said though...Im glad that cops are doing things to prevent idiots from driving on the road, and street racing from occuring...I just think there are too many flaws in what they are doing right now and a lot of innocent people are gunna get pegged by this to...and the thing is, is maybe we here no better and can fight...but what about the people that dont know better? not everyone is like you, not everyone is like us...

whats gunna happens smoke if you get ****ed over, and you are innocent and not even your lawyers can bail you out...and you lose your car you worked so hard on...or get a ticket that is a killer like my buddies...then what would you do?

yea, too bad the "wrong place/wrong time" situation doesn't apply to driving. When you're driving, you are in control of your actions. If something happens that's legally not your fault, then you have nothing to worry about, bad cop or no.

also I dont care how you put it, its your word versus a cops word in the end...as long as he sounds credible your SOL...its not a 50/50 thing here
Not in this situation. In America, if a cop says you were doing a precise number over the speed limit, he needs to provide physical evidence that shows you were going that exact speed over the speed limit. It may be your word v. his word if it's something more ambigious like Exhibition of Acceleration or Aggressive Driving...but, with something concrete and finite like your friend's situation, the cop needs to provide evidence that he was doing 27 over. Again, when you go to court, it's not to prove your innocence, but for the cop to prove you were guilty. There's a huge difference between the two.

You're really asking two different questions, so I'll answer them seperately:

whats gunna happens smoke if you get ****ed over, and you are innocent and not even your lawyers can bail you out...and you lose your car you worked so hard on...
It doesn't matter what I'd do because I would never be doing anything close to something that could land my car in a compactor, period, indent paragraph.
You need to get it in your head that cops aren't going to crush someone's car for doing 5 over the speed limit, for it being too loud, or even for reckless driving. Sure, they may cut your license up, give you a huge fine..they may even stick your tail in prison. But crushing your car? It is NOT going to happen for any of the aforementioned. The only thing that would even tempt police to put someone's car in a compactor is if they're street racing or something like vehicular manslaughter, neither of which I do.
or get a ticket that is a killer like my buddies...then what would you do?
                              1) I stand up for myself
                              2) I would get a lawyer
                              3) I wouldn't speak to the prosecutor without my lawyer
                              4) Even if I didn't have a lawyer, I wouldn't roll over like a castrated b1tch and let a shiney badge and a fancy title take advantage of me

You like making me write alot damnit, my hands getting tired...see thats where you are wrong...your in control of your actions, but not how someone else interprets them...if the cop wants to say you were racing...or you were speeding he can... in law for a traffic offence mens rea doenst have to be present, only the acteus reus...now if the cop can show the court that the acteus reus ( act of doing it) was there then it becomes a reverse onus on your part...you no longer are innocent until proven guilty, you now have to prove your innocence
