  • Wideband Dyno Inside, Tuning Questions

    Here are my modifications:

    Bored 0.030 Over
    Custom 3.5" Cold Air Intake
    Pacesetter Ceramic Headers and Y-Pipe
Offroad 3" Exhaust from Y-Pipe to SLP Dual/Dual Muffler
    Taylor Ignition Wires
    GM 22# Fuel Injectors

Dyno Results (Load Bearing Dyno, Most Accurate):

    188 Horsepower @ 5250 RPMS
    210 Torque @ 4200 RPMS

Estimated Engine Power (Assuming 16-18% Loss through RWD Auto w/2 Piece Steel DS):

    225-230 Horsepower
    245-250 Torque

    Wideband Air/Fuel was:

    13.5 @ 3200-3400rpms
    13.4 @ 3500-3600rpms
    13.3 @ 3700rpms
    13.2 @ 3800-4000rpms
    13.1 @ 4100-5100rpms
    13.0 @ 5200-5300rpms
    12.9 @ 5400-5500rpms
    12.8 @ 5600rpms

PCM is going off to Texas Speed now for tuning. According to Viper's guide, they should prob add a little bit of fuel down low and take out some up top to get all the numbers to 13.2ish. That combined with some conservative timing advance matched to 92 octane fuel, correct? Comments?

i would fatten it up slightly at like 3700 to 4400 an dmight lean it out slightly after 4900 where your making peak hp. HOpefully those dyno a/f #'s are right on...considering its a load bearing dyno I'd hope so.

      "fatten" do you mean richen?
      please clarify and be specific
      thanks!!
so his AFR is close to perfect except for what you just advised?
      like:
      13.3 0000-3700 rpms
      13.4 3700-4400 rpms
      13.2 4400-4800 rpms
      13.1 4900-5500 rpms
      12.9 5600- rpms

I really dont know what is perfectly Ideal, I'm just trying to find out what I should be shooting for during PE. ????
      thanks

i would try to get it to 12.8:1 from 3700-4400 on the street & lean it out to 13.0-13.2 thereafter till peak hp then back to 13.0-12.9 after peak hp. Specific enough?

then it went down to 14.7
          and disabled fuel learn

on initial startup it runs high AFR (15.0).
                  after that it runs 10s , 11s, 12s
(talking about commanded AFR lo res)
I set my PE delay to 0.
                  changed injectors to 21.99.
I still have my PE temp(IAT) table stock.

I gotta wait 1 more week for wideband to get here.

This PE commanded AFR is calculated/determined by IAT, ECT, and TPS (which I set to 0).
Looks like I really should use the RPM table.

Weird I'm getting knock, even though it says that my commanded AFR is rich (10s-12s AFR)

Wow. Sounds to me like you might want to do some reading about tuning before making all these changes. Why would you want to always run in PE mode??

VE doesn't have anything to do with normal ops.

You don't have to be in PE mode to command an AFR. You can set it seperately for Startup, Open Loop, Closed Loop, and PE. You don't need/want to run around town with a 13:1 AFR.
