  • How much can it take?

I have a 99 3.8 bird, with 132000 miles on it runs perfect and i have a few mods, how much of a dry shot can my car stand on a regeular basis maybe hitting it 3 or 4 times a week? Do yall tink spraying a stock block with that many miles is a bad idea?

idk... mine's got 32,000... I fully plan on spray'n a 100 shot... but no more than a few times every other month or so

it doesnt matter how many miles are on the motor..it matters what condition it..and the rest of the car..is in..you're going to want to make sure the car is tuned well..new plugs/wires, O2s, fuel filter, etc..with the correct supporting mods id say a 100 shot..120 is really starting to push it..im spraying a 150 but i have a forged motor, ability to log and watch my runs (when my laptop isnt retarded), and am prepared for the consiquences of any risks

As 1dv6 mentioned conditon of motor matters. Tranny as well.

Nitrous WILL find your weak points in your engine/drivetrain.

on a properly running engine/tranny with NO issues
100 shot is doable. Anything above that you start pushing the limits. Min ran a 150 dry shot regularly, but eventually blew something.

If you get plenty of Fuel and have a way to monitor, as well as running all safety equipment that will make it a lot eaiser. Running lean while spraying is what kills an engine on a dry shot.

Min's mods were actually somewhat of a mystery on this board.

I don't know about fuel system upgrades, but I beleive he had a "stock" engine.

sweet..i did a search and found out he was running a wet shot anyway..he lowered it from a 150 to a 125 due to a very large backfire

Well.... mileage will have a slight factor.

If the engine is strong currently.... then start small.
75 and work up from there.

Nitrous will find the weak link though!

Just remember something will break.. I sprayed my stock motor for 2 years starting with a 50 wet all the way up to a 125 wet.. Had no problems with it at all.. I changed my oil, plugs, and fuel filter ever 2 months just to be safe.. Then one day my tranny blew.. I rebuilt that and sprayed 2 or 3 more bottles through it and I blew up a piston.. Thats when I dropped my built motor in.. sprayed a bottle through that and I broke my spec stage 3 clutch.. so It will happen eventually.. Dont be scared to spray your car just realize that If you want to play you got to pay.. I feel if I stayed with a 90 shot I would still have my stock motor and my stock tranny in my car with no problems to this day.. I went 14.0@102 with the 90 shot.. I just wanted to go faster so I put the 125 jets in and that lasted for 7 months and 20 some bottles before my motor blew.. I put 65 bottles through my stock motor..

if you've kept up with you oil-changes, tune-ups, and have taken good care of your ride, then I wouldnt worry bout it.
also you've got to have a few mods-cause any mod you have "correctly" installed IS relieving stress your motor normaly has. (the more mods-less motor stress-the more your motor can handle)
