• Wet shot with P&P intakes

as most of us know..our intakes were not designed to have wet fuel sprayed through them..im wondering though..would having P&P upper and lower intakes change that at all or make it any better/safer?

I had my Upper and Lower intakes P&P. However, I had it done while I was installing the CAM so I do not know how much is tha CAM and how much is the P&P job. However, it can't hurt!

It wont change anything enough to matter. If you've ever looked inside the upper intake you would know why it wont ever work very good.

depending on how my car runs this next season im thinking on going with a wet shot to pack a harder punch...and i was looking at wet sprayers in the top 10 and a few of them have P&P intakes so thats why i was wondering if that made some sort of difference...it looks like the only "safe" way (which is the way id want on my daily driver) to go wet is direct port..may check that out in the future...thanks for the info!

          Exactly

Direct port fixes all though! :D

The smaller the shot the better. Or go dry if you dare.

well if you port and polish your intakes, at least your lower intake it will help if from puddling because you remove the imperfections from the factory where the wet shot tends to puddle. So it is a good idea to P&P them for running bigger shots. The risk of puddling increases as the shot increases.

Good point.... but... there are still area's for puddling after port work is done :(

                  Direct port would be sweet

yea but the bad spots are gone at least, to minimize your chance of puddling better than leaving stock. Nothing can beat direct port

Take your trottle off and look into the upper intake. the top of our intake runners stick about 1/4" into our plenum.

You could probably puddle about a pint of fuel in the bottom of the plenum, before it overflowed into the runners.

I have often thought about putting a sheet metal intake onto my engine. It would prevent all puddling if done right. The injector bosses other complex stuff is in the lower intake, so the upper wouldn't be too hard to make. I would just make a big aluminum box that would mount to the lower intake. It might be difficult to plumb the coolant stuff for the T-stat, but the rest of it would be easy. just forget the PCV and put a monster breather on the valve covers.

The new manifold would make great power up top, but it would sacrifice low end torque, due to the shortened individual runners.

The time and money involved in me researching this thing would not be worth it, though. By the time I got it built, it would be cheaper to go with a direct port setup.

I'd LOVE to see a sheet metal intake!

They have them for v6 stangs!
