  • Question for 3.4 NOS engines

So I have been running the Holley kit for the 3.4 for a year now and have yet to get the thing working properly. I have been paying a speed shop for quite some time to figure it out and they also did the install but it always seems to be the same answer. "We never have done this to a 6 cyl before", I am sick and tired about that answer. I have spent a few buckson this car and if I wanted a V-8 I could have bought one already; so please no you should have bought a V-8 cracks. I went to LVD (Lebenon Valley Dragway) in NY this past weekend after the car was given a green light to run by the speed shop. With out juice and on street tires I ran a 2.1 60 ft and a 15.3 quarter mile. My next run with the 100 shot nozzle went like this, I got maybe half way and it sharted sputtering, a few small expolsions under the hood I turned off the NOS. This has been my demon since the kit has been installed. The speed shop had a few people at the track that day and they swapped around the NOS and the Fuel line injectors. Now the damn NOS does not work at all. Has anyone got the standard Holley NOS kit to work on your car? I have spent a few bucks on other MODS also on my car, regrinded the heads, headers, cat back dynomax, 3.42 posi rearend, K&N Filpk, reprogramed Computer, 8mm Plug wires and really cold delco plugs...........

Any and all suggestions would be greatly accepted...

    Thanks

    Jocko

I ran N2O on my 3.4 V6 with out any problems. I did have some small problems at first due to plugs and fuel system. I went to TR6 plugs gapped at like .040 and installed a high flow fuel pump and 19# injectors and the problems went away. Give us some more info like do you have a M5 or an A4? Are you using a window switch? Are you using high octane gas/octane booster? It sounds like you have some detonation going on. Also are you using a bottle warmer to keep bottle pressure up? I guess you are using the NOS 5175 kit?

Not taking it as a flame and actually I have been around almost a year, just a quiet person.

I am not happy with my times and it should be way better for the what I have spent on Mods.

                The computer was reprogramed
                I am running Delco Plugs
                Mobile One
3.42 Posi Rear with Redline Oil
                B&M TransPak Shift Kit
                8.0 mm Taylor Wires
                K&N Filpk
                Regrind Heads
                Street Tires

My time slip is like this

                rt.............836 (sucks)
                60.............2.2 (Good)
                330............6.37
                1/8............9.705
                mph............75.04
                1000...........12.654
                1/4............15.323
                mph............80.77

I slowed down because of issues with the car, I would like it to be in the 14's on Motor and very low 13's/high 12's on NOS. I have spent enough money on the car to have put in a V-8 but wanted to stay with a 6 cyl because no one really does this any more with 6ers. I have been given the nickname of "Defender of the V-6" at my Club. We are located at
CTFBA on the World Wide Web.

I will be doing a complete new 3.4 very soon. I know GM makes a aluminm (sp) block and also can get stage 3 heads and a few other things in the works. I love this board because I have taken the information and ran it down to the speed shop that did the work.
a picture of the car is located at http://www.ctfba.com/ss/gallery/galjocko1.jpg

No I was having issues with the car so I backed off the throttle. My real issues came the next run when I put on the Mickey T's and hit the NOS. The car sounded like it was coming apart at the seams..........I hope to have the NOS figured out soon. My first run, this one; was with street tires and no NOS the bottle was shut off during this run. I turned on the bottle when the Drag Radials went on.
