I had a friend who custom fabbed some block hugger shorties for his 2002 3.8...

before and after dyno numbers were nearly the same....i think the only thing that happened was his torque peak dropped 200 rpms....

as for pacesetters or CIA headers...yeah they're both Mid-Length designs and will provide gains over tubulars.

          Re: Electric cutout

I was looking for a low-budget mod that would gain performance and sound. I know headers alone would be a worse choice because they would be more expensive, harder to install, non-adjustable as far as noise, and a larger collecter would not fit the stock exhaust. Also, the cut-out would eliminate 8 ft of small exhaust, the cat and the muffler, while the headers would still be chocked out by these. If I ever do headers they would be long tubes because short tubes at this point are a waste of time. You guys got way off topic, I want to know where to buy a cut-out! What size is the stock exhaust also??

            Re: Electric cutout

The stock y-pipe collector is 3" going into a 3" in 2.25" out cat. Everything from there on back is 2.25" on a stock car.
