  • summit mufflers ftw

i recently purchased a magnaflow carsound cat and a summit muffler (both 3" in/out). Had them welded on, along with 3 " piping the whole way. (so that from the y to the turndown is all 3 inch. total cost including installation and shipping was about 330 $, which isn't insanely cheap but i don't consider it expensive since it is basically a full exhaust.

the set up is almost identical to http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread...summit+muffler
which is where i got the idea from...

just thought id post how great this set up is and how much i enjoy it. U cannot beat the price nor the sound. It is a relatively quiet exhaust with relatively no drone. It doesnt pop nearly as much or as loud as other systems.

Idle: It sounds nice at idle (a little throaty) but again not too loud, u can hear the exhaust but it is not overpowering.

At WOT, the sound stays consistent and is a very nice tone.

highways cursing: around 3000 r's is nice and have no complaints bout drone since it is barely audible,

the only time im hesitant about the sound is when letting off of the gas when the rpms are really high (5000+) and it sort of pops when u let off. this is the only real rasp i can hear..if u consider that rasp. The thing i hated most about other exhaust was the loud crackling pop sound in between shifts. So far i have not heard this sound and couldn't be happier because of this.

o and the only real mods i have that would make a difference to the sound would be my whisper lid and my slp CAI

CLIFFS.... Installed 3" summit muffler and 3" carsound cat and i love it..Its fairly quiet and is the perfect option for people who r iffy bout gettin an exhaust but want the performance gains and a louder than stock feel

You know the summit muffler you and Pewter2K1 got has a smaller diameter on the inside right? So it's basically a 2.5" exhaust.

the inlet and outlet is 3" but the internal diameter, the core, is 2.5 inches on the summit turbo mufflers. Dynomax FTW.

yeah...yeah.. but your tail pipes are 2.5" so your 3" exhaust is really 2.5".

dual though right? so that would probably be better than 3 inch.

The summit muffles are single in, single out. 2.5" on the inside. Your exhaust can only flow as much as it's smallest part.
