  • coolant in intake manifold

I was going to take off my throttle body today to clean it but when I was taking off the throttle body coolant started spilling everywhere. After I took it off I noticed coolant inside the intake manifold just sitting in there. What should I do?

so it just fell in when you took the tb off? Coolant flows through the tb so when you take off the tb there is going to be coolant that comes out

just take a rag and clean it out

then rig up something on a broomstick or whatever to reach back there, be creative.

Why you taking off the tb anyways? Was it running bad?

          Re: coolant in intake manifold

I was taking it off to clean cuz it to not run as good as it used to. Do you think any coolant might have gone down inside the intake ports?

it could have if it is all the way to the back of your intake. You must have made quite a mess if it got that far back

If it did get into the ports is there anything to worry about?

                  Re: coolant in intake manifold

Ok I've seemed to get all the coolant out of the intake, I'm not sure if there is any in the ports. Should I try to start it up?

If your concerned, take the spark plugs out and crank the engine a couple times. If there is any fluid in the cylinders it will come out the holes made by the removed spark plugs.

just don't let it pass thru 2 the exhaust. coolant kills cats and O2 sensors. drain it from the spark plugs like it has been suggested.

I had to order the tb gasket and it just came in. Do I need to put any silicone on the tb gasket?
