  • CIA Longtube Headers

Anyone heard about these yet?? I had a rep from Full Throttle V6 contact me about taking my car for a couple weeks so Clear Image could build/test long tube headers for the 3.8L Camaro. Clear Image is located in Auburn, WA (about 100 miles from me), but I couldn't afford to miss my car for that long and they were still going to charge me "at cost". He later said that they found another car to work on though.

    Here was his initial message:

Nice ride! I am looking for a V6 car in WA that needs/wants longtube headers. Clear Image Automotive is erady to build them to further our aftermarket! They just need a car! PLEASE e-mail if you're interested in hearing more. It's an awesome oppurtunity/deal!
This was December 15, 2005, so I figured they'd have them done and ready to sell by now...

    Re: CIA Longtube Headers

I hope this is true because I've always wanted tuned long tube headers. I like the 3.8L Pacesetter headers better than the CIA, but I keep putting off buying them because I really want long tubes.

So they were still going to charge you "at cost." Did they happen to estimate what this "at cost" price would be or how much they think they would sell for?

The e-mails we exchanged are long gone now, but if memory serves me correctly, he estimated around $250 for "at cost"; installation and labor free of course since they were technically going to "experiment" with my car for a couple weeks.

they don't have them, there was rumor that they were beta testing, and fitting a 3.8l fbody for them, but nothing ever hit the market

Why's that? Pacesetters are crap compared to CIA.

Does anyone know what the thing is in the middle of the longer tube in the CIA y-pipe? Sorry for the poor description but its the part that is darker in color.

                      Re: CIA Longtube Headers

Im the only one on this forum that has the CIA shorties so Im kind of excited to see what there long tubes will bring. Maybe later on if the gains are better than the shorties I may go t their long tubes whenever they can get a car to test fit some on.

As far as I know, they got one... At first we shot a couple e-mails back and forth, and I had to back down as I couldn't be without my car that long (I was driving 30 miles to work every day) or even afford the $200+ "at cost" price. About 2 weeks later I e-mailed another question and he said they already found a car. I'd hope they are done with it by now!

It's a shame... I only live 6 blocks away from work now, and I could probably do without my car to a week or two.

Let's end all the speculation. I called them.

They do NOT have, NOR are they working on producing long tubes. They are CONSIDERING it for the future.

They ARE considering a Group Purchase for their present headers.

Hmm... That's dissapointing. It was Matt Craft (NotAv8/NowAv8), the Co-Founder/Mod at Full Throttle v6 that contacted me about it...

You could probably even see the first message he left on my Cardomain Guestbook. Again... just dissapointing. Sorry for getting anyone's hopes up. Apparently I was misled myself...
