Is the hole too small? If so try and get a dremel and enlarge the hole a bit.

I had to trim the grommet a bit to make it fit.

what i did was found a rubber band that's about a 1/4-inch wide, cut it, then super-glued it around the IAT sensor. Made a much better fit...I'll get a pic of it when I get my car back

I remember that annoying *****! I had to file down the hole, and the grommet to get it in there

i used a pvc grommet from a nissan i believe, may have been toyota. ran me like $1.50 at advance auto. works like a charm

thanks guys... yeah i just kept lubing it with oil, and pushing like hell and it finally went in! my hand hurts like hell, but hey, my car sounds better so it was worth it, thanks for all the advice.

I think we can all agree; that grommet should be resized so it can fit a little bit easier

i just lit it on fire, and then when it was warm i stuck the lil rubber thing in and then it cooled onto it, fire solves all problems

Re: HELP!! o2 sensor on whisper lid

When I did mine, the grommet was the toughest part of the job. I enlarged the hole in the lid's intake tube and put the grommet into the hole 1st and then greased the outside of the sensor and forced it into the hole. Whisper should furnish a new grommet that works better, considering how expensive the kit is.

BTW, I agree the sound is better with the lid, and it makes it easier to work on the front of the engine, but I don't think there was any real power gain.
