Re: Egr

I've seen the following EGR valve failures:

    1) stuck in an open positon, no valve movement: very rough idle or not being able to idle at all. Part or full throttle performance is lacking. Poor gas milage. Should get an SES light.

    2) valve operates but will not fully close: again, poor or no idle. Part or full throttle performance loses not noticeable. No SES light.

    3) valve stuck in closed positon: Engine can rattle or ping on accelleration (from pre-ignition/detonation), SES light because valve does not open when commanded.
Now Playing: \'99 Pewter Firebird, stock, bone stock, and nothing but stock, so help me God!
Comming attractions: K&N Filter, Lid Mod, Intake Bellows Smooth Pipe Mod.
I dream about: Forced Induction (TC or SC) or NOX (or both!)

If its missing under a load its probibly a coil pack.

just buy the blockoff plates from ZZP and get the codes deleted via tuning. Bam, less weight, no carbon going into your intake manifold, cleaner looking engine bay, and maybe 1 mpg loss. If that wasn't the problem... then you still reaped all the above benifits.
