  • S-Pipe required?

I am buying the flowmaster american thunder 2.5 catback and a 3 inch catco high flow cat, along with an o2 simulator. I am not sure with the american thunder do I need an S-Pipe? The picture on the flowmaster site looks like the S-pipe is already connected to the I-Pipe. I am going to do a 3 to 2.5 inch reducer from the cat out. Just wondering if I need to purchase an S pipe or if it is already configured into the flowmaster catback. Thanks!

The Flowmaster setup does not come with an S pipe. Your stock S pipe is actually 2.25". You would be able to use a reducer from the cat to the S pipe, but I don't think you should, and this is my reason:

You are using a nice, bit 3" cat. Then you bottleneck right after that by reducing to the little tiny 2.25" S pipe. That bottleneck basically eliminates the gains you got by making the area of flow through your cat larger.

I think you should buy a 3" S pipe or just make youre own. That's what I did with my exhaust. I have a 3" cat and we cut, flipped, and welded a 3" U pipe to make the 3" S pipe. Then I have a 3" to 2.5" reducer for my flowmaster setup.
