Since everyone is talking about 00+ exhaust manifolds, who thinks upgrading from the '96 exhaust manifold to the 00+ ones is a good mod? I really don't believe pacesetter is going to come out with cheap headers anytime soon, especially since they will be ceasing production of f-bodies. Went to GMpartsdirect.com and price is about $206 (that's with my 6.5% NC sales tax.) Seems reasonable for what sounds like a more free-flowing manifold(basically shorty headers like everyone had been saying), and the ability to change plugs and wires under 2.5 hours, and, what goes along with that, the ability to diagnose plug/wire problems (ie: "oh, look the plug boot just fell off" instead of having to squeeze under the car and feel around the hot *** block and big ol' manifolds for any loose wires, etc.) How do you guys feel about that?

The 2000+ tubular manifolds seem to be a worthwhile mod. The 2002 3.8 is rated at 205 horsepower which is a gain of 5hp with those "shorty headers." The most you would expect from an aftermarket set would be between 5-10hp, so you're right on.

Also, do a search, there has been a lot of discussion about this recently.

why is only the '02 model rated at 205? Are the manifolds on the '02 different than the tubular manifolds on the '00 and '01?

They don't say that it is rated @ 205hp. Only the RS Camaro and Firebird GT are rated @ that and only because they have a different muffler.
