  • best exaust combo for me?

I have a 3" high flow cat and flowmaster 40 series muffler. I want to add headders to this combo also. Would it be wise to stick with the stock intermediate pipe and get a 3" y pipe? or get a 3" Intermediate pipe and a 2.5" y pipe? I want to keep the cat and the muffer though. So what do ya'll think would yeald me the best hp without the headders? With the headders? TIA

It is better to have the same diameter all the way back so it doesn't dissrupt flow :D

Well, as for the y pipe, it comes with the headers unless you're having them custom made, in that case make the y pipe not much bigger than the headers. If you do you will lose too much back pressure and have no low end power. So, what you do is get your headers and you y pipe as well as your hi flow cat and have someone bend you a pipe. If you have someone bend you a pipe make sure it's not too bent up. You can get aftermarket I pipes from a few companies, I think Flowmaster makes them, but I'm not sure. Also, have a 3 inch I pipe is also a little too big. If you're not going to get, for instance, the Super Six package, NOS, super charger, or turbo than you should go with a smaller diameter because again you'll be losing too much back pressure. But, if you are going to do some other performance stuff like forced induction or ported heads and a cam than you might want to go with the 3 inch for now so you won't have to change later. A plus for now is that you'll have a pretty loud car. I have CAI, headers, hi flow cat, 3 inch I pipe, and a flowmaster. It's pretty loud even though Borla is better, which I am going to switch to, it will sufice I'm sure.
