  • replacing K&N lid gasket?

I just bought a Whisper lid for my 02 'bird. I've had a K&N filter on for a while, but now I need a replacement self-sticking gasket to fit around the bottom side of the new lid. Does anyone know where to get one? No one seems to sell them apart from the filter, and I can't get a response from K&N. Guess I could make a homemade one -- anyone tried that?

I emailed K&N on the same question - they offered to send (or sell, I can't remember) me one.

But my whisper lid came with the gasket - are you sure you didn't get one, you might want to ask the place you bought it from.

Thanks for the input guys, guess I'll keep trying K&N, or maybe see if TByrne will send one (wasn't included) ... then explore the silicone option. ... now if only i can get rid of this freezing rain!

Umm, no silicone spray near the engine please. It does nasty stuff to oxygen sensors (google this for details).

There are some labeled "sensor safe" if you look.
