Unbolt them. I put cork gasket material under them and reattached.

I used pliers (regular and needle nose) and a flat head screwdriver. The heat shields on my cat were formed around a lip. I had to pry the edges w/the screwdriver and "work" it off w/the pliers.

I installed a bigger I pipe and it is very close to the heat sheild, I want to cut away the 1/4 of an inch that is close to the I pipe. What do I use?

I would suggest taking them off. Cut alittle, then put them back on. Repeat if needed.

As for what to use to cut them? Hack saw or a grinder of some sort maybe.
