  • The search is over... I've found the best!

For me anyways, well I've gone from stock exhaust to a LoudMouth, then added a high flow cat and 3" s-pipe, then replaced the LM resonator with a Borla XR-1 Racing muffler, and now FINALLY after mucho cash has been blown, I have found the answer... Hooker Aerochamber. It took some custom piping out the back since the LM piping isn't anything close to stock once you get over the axle, so it cost about $200 total for the pipes and install. I left the Borla bullet alone cuz I figured it could only help the sound because it deepened the LM and took away a lot of the rasp.

So the new system works GREAT, my car is no longer ear bleeding loud but it still sounds mean and louder than stock. The tone is very deep and smooth, no chainsaw affect at all even at WOT! The interior resonance is history, along with the rattles and buzzing that the old LM caused. I feel kinda stupid for switching my exhaust around so much, but this custom setup works very nicely. I'm going to try to borrow a friends digital camera and get a clip for you guys, but it'll be about a week or so.

Oh and the performance difference is unnoticable, the Aerochamber is one of the best flowing OEM style/size mufflers out there, go HOOKER!! So I guess you can call my setup the BorlaHookerMouth? I dunno, it's a working title

so basically you have hooker catback w/ a borla xr-1 on the i-pipe? from what you explained it sounds like you removed the "y" section of the lm and put in the traditional single inlet, dual outlet muffler? get some video's and pics up if you can. i'm sure a lot of people w/ hooker's will be interested in this set-up.

how much did your borla muffler cost, because i got an american thunder cat back system from flowmaster, it sounds decent but the main thing that i wanted was the rumble instead of like a constant pur, if you know what i mean

but i duno if this is right, but the only real thing that effects the sound in the cat back is the muffler, and if the borla muffler would give me the deep rumble instead of the constant pur, id look into getting it, any idea guys??

ps i got also got rid of my clogged cat and put a highflow one in, whiched helped some, but basically i want the rumble, not the constant pur, i hope someone knows what im talknig about :/

          psps i got a 2k v6

you cant get a deep rumble, your lacking two major things ;)

the best you can get is a purr with on rasp.

poo, so not even spending the xtra 500 on a borla cat back would have gotten me the rumnbler like an 8 would have...?

o well it sounds like *** in the car, but outside it does sound pretty throaty which i love, but still not to great of a rumble

heh i guess im always comparing mine to 2 of my friends gt stangs....they just sound amazing, and that is how i wanted mine to sound....o well...back to the drawing board... :(

if i was to put a muffler back on my car it would be a hooker, i like how they're real mellow just cruising around but when you romp it, it gets a lot louder....
