  • we cant go bigger piping from the cat

hey people, the guy at the muffler shop said that there is not point for me to go 2.75" from my cat outlet wich is 2.25, back to my muffler witch is 2.25 in/out, he said that its the muffler that is doing the resticting, so if i wanted to go 2.75 from the cat i would have to change my muffler.

There is no point because it would just be 2 bottle necks. One at the cat, and one at the muffler.

If thats what you really want to do then I'm sure the shop will do it for you. But you will not gain again by just increasing the I-pipe size, unless you have a aftermarket muffler.

Without replacing the cat you will always have the bottle neck of going from 3 inch in to 2.25 out. Probably the best suggestion is to get a 3 inch high flow cat so you only go 3 inch to 2.75 inch.

      get a cut out!
I have a 97 bird and I just got a high flow cat w/ 3" piping to the cutout thats mounted right before the rear axle. And the high flow cat and cut out are 3" in and out. and after the cut out the guy at the muffler shop fabricated the 3" back down to the stock 2 1/4 ". So it can be done.

Umm... yeah. You wanted flow right? You plan on flowing with a custom I-pipe and a factory muffler?

Yeah, they told me the same thing. I was disappointed at first, :( but now I'm glad that I did. :D Just don't buy one of those no name junk mufflers from the muffler shop. Get a dynomax(my personal favorite), flowmaster, spintech, etc.
