  • Intake on ebay...

I was looking at some intake kits from ebay, theyre way cheap. I was wondering if anyone knows why or if someone has bought one off of their. I was looking at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CF-95...QQcmdZViewItem

Now, that compared to a SLP or K&N kit which goes for 250 bucks...I dont know what I should go for.

That ebay intake doesn't look like it would be much better than stock. It still has a huge restriction where it runs back into the stock system. It's just one piece of pipe a silcone coupler and a cheap filter.

I say save up your money and go SLP or K&N. I have a SLP and love it. If you don't want to spend around $200 for an intake look in the for sale section they come up used every now and then.

The stock intake on the 95-97 3.8l intakes are kinda restrictive. There really isn't a smooth airflow to the TB. The incoming air hits some rough turns that kill the flow. If you buy an intake, go with something like my intake or something similar. The airflow gets to pass within the pvc pipe and flow directly into the TB without any harsh angles.
The stock intake on our 95-97 3.8's have a nasty 90 degree angle to deal with just as the air is about to flow into the TB. I'm not saying you'll get a whopping amount of HP gain from the upgrade, but it's definately better than stock. The intake you are looking at on your ebay page is just another filter on our stock unit.

i think the problem with that one is that it isnt really sucking in cooler air being up in the engine bay like that. kinda makes it pointless if its pulling in hot air from the motor. maybe it the tubing went all the way down to the bottom it would be worth it but it seems to me that it wouldnt make a noticable difference since its sucking in mostly warm air.
