I just read the mod encyclopedia for intakes and it reads "a kit (K&N FIPK) for a 3.4 can be made to fit a 3.8 with a little tinkering." I assume its better that the ram air since its an open air filter and I want it installed in my '98 V6. Is there anyone here that has done this mod or know exactly what to "tinker" to make it fit?

Just checked K&N website and they only have one for a 98-01 5.7 V8 and the 3.4's. I'm sure the kit for either the 5.7 or the 3.4 will fit our 3.8 after some modifications. SLP CAI is only available for '93-'97 camaro's.
What do I have to do to make it fit on a '98?

No sorry - LM has it on sale (it's where I got mine) and since you already have a K&N filter you aren't wasting any money. This mod is more "Ram Air" than any FIPK because it scoops the air that your dam is kicking upwards.
This fits your car
PS - the Whisper Lid for '98s is also available and usually "finishes" this mod if you are doing it aftermarket.
