• cat or no cat?

my car has 107k miles on it and the cat has never been changed and i am sure it clogged due to the drop in acceleration. any way, would it be better to get it straight piped and get an o2 sim? if so what o2 sim would i need. or would it be better to get and after market cat? if so which cat.
stock exhaust pipe size with a dynomax super turbo exhaust. thanks for any help

If you gut the cat, you will most likely lose a little power in the lower RPM range, but you will gain power in the higher RPM range. Basically, it all depends on if you think it's worth the sacrafice....I think it is.

my dyno proved open y-pipe produces more horsepower and torque than having a cat on the car. Above 3k rpm the open y-pipe produced more horsepower under 3k the horsepower was identical but torque was lower with cat.

I went and put a dynomax bullet muffle in place of the cat. At the same time I installed the Flowmaster American Thunder System. Seemed to give the car a mid rpm kick in the pants. Mine is an A4 tranny though too so I might have noticed it more.

or just get a resonator, all I know is the power gain in all the RPM range.
