You know Fast Toy sell this for LT1 and LS1. I was wondering if this could work on our cars?

Yep, there's several people with them. Usually referred to as MAFT or MAFT+. (the plus lets you adjust timing in addition to the maf reading).

I use mine to optimize the wot air/fuel ratio (for more power, and also to prevent running too lean with some of the mods I've done...)

You need a way to monitor your a/f ratio to make the best use of it.

      John,

You seem to be pretty fluent with the MAFT & readings taken from AutoTap. I'll have all my materials here to do all that probably within the next 2 weeks, and was wondering if I had any questions if I could call you? If so, let me know, maybe even drop me an e-mail with your number.. cbeasley02@hotmail.com

      thanks!

You'll like it. I don't mind answering some questions when you get started with it.

First, go play with the software some, get a feel for what you can monitor, play with the different views a little. When you get a configuration you like, be sure to save the config file. (p.s. do this before you turn the car off, or you'll get a "not connected" error and it won't let you save it...)

What you'll probably want to monitor in the end, will be the o2 readings, and only at wot because that's when the pcm stops looking at o2's, and you will need to (and be able to) intervene in order to make any needed changes in the a/f ratio.

Didn't you just put the cia headers on your car too...?

          John,

Without a power adder - do you think the option to retard/advance timing with the plus version is worth the extra money? I know the advancing the timing can boost a lil NA power... but.. with what you've gathered - is it worth it?

EDIT: Yea, I just equipped my car w/ CIAs ;)

EDIT #2: What's the difference b/w Autotap Generic Version and Enhanced Version? (as so displayed on Tbyrne's website)?

I don't have the +. Magnus has one that I think helped him, but I don't remember him talking about what settings he uses. Without a power adder, you can probably take more advance, which can get you a little hp. Somewhere lately I ran across that 4 degrees = about 20hp, or 1 degree = 5hp. With a power adder, it's doubtful you could run any additional advance, if anything you might need to take out a degree or two... So if you could pull another 2 degrees, possibly another 10hp...??

I thought I remembered replying about the headers experience (and the cross-threading problems...) with you just a little bit ago.

This is the first I've heard of the generic vs. enhanced... I took a quick look over there. Sounds like it's for the LS1, not the V6. Refers to using spark and fuel maps, which I doubt are compatible with the V6's. I didn't see the autotap listed on the V6 section on their site, just the V8 section. I got mine from thunderracing.

Hey TBYRNE, do you guys sell the MAFT +? Or just the MAFT?

Yeah, I'm interested too. John, I'll keep you in mind if and when I get this.
