  • Bad Cat after 24,000

My car's performance dropped off significantly a couple of days ago, then on the highway in third gear at about 4500 rpm it started misfiring like a mofo. It was so damn slow a little Civic kept up with me. I took it into the shop and it turns out my catalytic converter had gone bad. Just a word of warning, the stock cats suck.

yeah, same thing happend to my car around 55000miles. I drove around with the clogged cat for like 2000 miles though. It will keep getting clogged and unclogged and chunks of your cat will start flying out of your exhaust. its pretty funny when your friend is driving behind you.

I just got it replaced with another stock cat because it would void my emissions control warranty (o2 sensors, etc.) and I'm tired of voiding warranties.

My Cat just recently went bad at 65,000 miles. It rattles and seems to be having a hard time.

When I take it out of storage next spring, im ridding of it all together and hopefully adding headers.

Your gas quality has a lot to do with it, When i lived in Maine I saw a lot of cloged cats some to the point where the car or truck all most wouldn't run.
It's the cold(taking 4 ever to warm up) and gas up there.
Maybe the quality of gas back in the U.S. is going down the s#!ter.(MTBE alternatives)
