  • SLP CAI question...

Hey guys, I went to go help my buddy with his SLP CAI install and noticed on the non-filter end there were some really small, fine metal "shavings". I didnt notice them with mine, maybe I didn't check. Should I have him sand paper down the inside...?

You might want to take a fine metal file and clean-up the inside lip if there are small pieces of metal in there, or send it back to SLP and ask for a replacement. You DEFINITLY do not want any of that to end up getting sucked into the motor.
If you do file it down be sure to throughly clean the whole thing before install.

I dont know if he wants to wait an extra two weeks...so I'd probably get a metal file and just file it until its smoother and then rinse it with some water.

Well I sprayed the inside of the intake with the water hose with pretty high pressure. Removed all of the dust or whatever is in the pipes and some of the loose stuff. Went over it again and some of the rough stuff is there but it isn't coming off if I rub it with my fingers. So I figure if spraying it with water doesn't loosen it, the air wont.

So anyone ordering a SLP CAI, might want to do that...get some of the metal stuff out of it. ;)

When i recieved my cold air package from SLP i realized that the inside of the tubing was "rough". So i brabbed some sand paper and started smoothening out the inside, then use an air compressor to air out the tube to get all shavings out.
