  • ported 00 exhaust manifolds?

what all goes into porting them, what's the price, and how much gain would they give?
this stems off the post in the pacesetter headers thread. i looked at the RK sport headers, they look like shorties too, so i'm wondering if porting the stock manifolds would give a good gain?

i know a guy with a machine shop around here, hasn't told me a price yet, but should be in the $50 range. I'll let you know how it goes, and get him to tell me how much porting is possible

I'm really to the pt to where I want to see flow test numbers.

      stock 96-99 manifolds
      stock 00-02 manifolds
      ported 00-02 manifolds

I may actually spend the money to have it done if I can get some used 00-02 manifolds.

I will look into getting flow numbers done if others would like also. Maybe go into Tech database?

edit: shop i just talked to isn't aware of a flow bench ANYWHERE within like 200 miles, so looks like I won't be able to, lol

I'm in the same boat. New from gmpartsdirect they are 183.54 + shipping (+ taxes for me in NC)

I'm sure I could find a flow bench, I just don't have any 00-02 manifolds.

dont expect MTI to be of any help..i went in there or more than 1 occasion and they have been nothin but a holes..1st time i wanted a LS1 I pipe..they said they didnt have any to give / sell to me..i said ok..i walked around back and int he last stall there were like 10-15 complete catbacks that came off F bodies.. the 2nd time i wanted to get a cut out..like 50 bucks for the cut out and then 75 to install it  riiiight..

you might have better luck with them but id bet that they would say with dont you blow in one end and see which flows better...JMO
