• whisper lid...

I'm not sure what a whisper lid does to improve your cars performance, i've seen a pic of it, it just looks like a replacement lid for the air box. How does it help?

• It removes the air silencer/baffle
• It smooths out the airlid surface
• It turns the 3" constrictive oval into a 3" circle allowing for more airflow
• It looks nicer
• It allows for more engine-bay working room

It eliminates the restrictions of the stock intake to allow more air into the engine.
(From Mod. Encyclopedia): "Why is increased air into the engine important? Think of an engine as a giant air pump. Within each cylinder, a certain volume of air is mixed with a certain amount of fuel which is ignited producing the explosion that pushes the piston downward, which then turns the crankshaft. The more air is in each cylinder, the more fuel can be added producing a more powerful explosion."
A little while back, someone on this board posted their dyno results with the Whisper Lid. The gains were something like 9-10 HP and about 13 torque.
