  • E-Borla Valve/McCord Power Plate? What's the difference?

Any one know what the difference between these two electronic exhaust valves?

    E-Borla Valve

    and

    McCord Power Plate

The only REAL difference I can gather is that the E-Borla Valve is a lot more money...

Anyone have any experiences with them?

I love my E-Borla valve..... wish Keith McCord would have came out with the Power Plate 2 before I bought my E-Borla valve. :( I could have saved a lot of money.

The other difference between the E-Borla and McCord PP2 is the E-Borla requires NO maintenence whereas the MPP2 requires greasing every so often.

Either one, I believe you'll be extrememly happy with it! :D

I had the borla electric valve for about 2,000 miles and it ratled like crazy. Just thought I'd let you know. I went back to using the plates and no more ratle.

To be honest... I broke 3 E-Borla valves and got a warranty replacement each time except the 3rd time when I asked for a refund. Nice guy. Good customer service. I just think the engineering needs a little work (broke the gears and casing the first two times and sheared the motor off the valve the 3rd time).

I just recently purchased a McCord Power Plate and installed it. So far no problems except that I didn't properly seal the unit to the Borla (need to buy some collector gaskets) to stop the leak because of the warped Borla flanges. The MPP takes longer (about 4 seconds) to open/close than the E-Borla valve which is a good thing... allows for better exhaust tuning. ;)

Oh... and the MPP is cheaper and has excellent customer service! :D

I've seen one that has a metal plate that slides off to the side. I can't remember where I saw it though. I'm pretty sure it was on TV though.

I have the Mccord, Its l33t. It doesnt vibrate or anythign and hasnt broke. but like all Electric valves tehy leak a bit when closed. Id say only get it if u have a reason to need to close it. Like, I like to come home and not wake the neighboor hood. I like to close it by cops. Other than that, its always open, because with an E cutout the flap makes the sound less lame =) . But I think that the only difference between teh 2 is name and price, get teh MCcord. Everyone in my car club ahs differnt cutouts and mine was the cheapest and they are all the same.
