• Just installed the K&N FIPK and i have one question

I just installed the FIPK II and Im really happy with it. It was a lil harder to install than I thought but not bad. Just have a few questions though. The plastice piece that I removed from under the car to put in the filterchager, do you have to put that back on? It seems if I leave it off that ill get more air to it. ANd if I leave it off do I have to worry about water being sucked into the engine? And how do I know if there are any leaks or not? I hear like a squeaking sound when I acclerate but its supposed to sound like that right? Thanks

When I had the camaro i did the same install. Never had water sucked into my intake. Drove thru heavy rain. I left the plastic piece off and never had a problem. Hope this helps.

It really will not make a difference in performance to leave it off. Your filter will get dirty faster. I would suggest leaving it on.

You will not have to worry about water getting in the engine unless you go through a HUGE puddle...more like a shallow creek. One thing that would suck is if you hit a huge bump and the filter happened to fall off...then it's gone. With the bottom splash guard in place, you would save the filter.

Make sure that all clamps are tight. The squeaking sound should be more of a whistling sound. If it IS squeaking, you might have another problem.

I have had my plastic piece off ever since i got the intake...bout 1 year or so. I went threw snow, rain, and nothing has happened yet.

I CANNOT put that piece back on due to the fact i made a little ram air thing out of it. The scoup sit so low i cant drive too much in the city cause if i pull into a gas station or a driveway or somethign i always scratch like no tomorrow with that thing.

Just be careful where you drive and u should be alright..good luck
