EGR questions, anyone with any experience, come here.
preventative maintenance is always a good idea. but it will not necessarily keep the egr solenoid from going out. by using a cleaner in the egr ports, you are freeing the passages from excess deposits, but a shorted solenoid coil really cannot be eluded by preventative maintenance. maybe if the crud was so bad it was making pintles stick in their positions....
