  • Custom vs catback

I want exhaust to be my next upgrade. I want at least a 3 inch exhaust setup from the cat to the inlet of the muffler. I was going to go with the Texas rumbler, but that would end up costing me around $350, not including a cat. Now I have only heard a 80's series muffler setup. (3inch in and dual out 2 1/2) If I went with the 80's series custom exhaust how much would I be looking toe be spending, on parts. ( not including installation) What other parts would I need to do the whole catback. Also is their any other muffler alone that is a better choice, being that I would be doing custom. Maybe Borla? Any opinions would be great.

borla is better, also more expensive. I have the magnaflow stainless catback and love it. Custom bent pipes (from a local shop) won't be mandrel bent, which means the diameter will decrease in the bend. I recommend the magnaflow or the texas rumbler (ive only heard good things about the rumbler).

Yes, I know those are good catbacks, but what about just muffler then all the components custom done?(with mandrel bent pipes bought online) The catbacks are expensive and if I could get a muffler around 100, then all the pipes, and pick up some tips around 70, I think it would be worth it. But What I was askin was if the custom exhaust would be a cheaper and easier choice.

I can give you a figure for installation and you can assume from there - magnaflow high flow cat, 3" exhaust, flowmaster muffler - installed and everything for $300

That sounds pretty good. I think that that is probably what I will do, considering a full catback is around 300, plus cat is around 65, plus having the shop install it would be around 120. That would be $500. How much was your highflow cat. If you could give me part numbers for all of your exhaust stuff that would be great. Also where did you buy it from?

$500 sounds like a lot for a full exhaust to me! I had a custom dual exhaust put on my explorer w/ tips for $220. You should check out all the shops in your area before getting it installed.

No, I dont have the exhaust. just was saying how much it would end up costing for a catback, plus cat, plus install. I will probably will end up going with custom.
