I have american thunder cat back on my 2000 v6.....and i just dont like the sound at all

like the tone of the sound is fine....but instead of it rumbling, like the rumble noise every half second or something, it just sorta spits all the time....im really mad and it isnt what i expected at all

id really like to get a new muffler on it, though id like to try getting headers first to see if it makes it any better sounding

i heard that the TCP rumbler has the best sound on a 3.8L v6....so i was thinking about just buying one of those since i already got a flowmaster cat back...im still not sure, and now you guys are saying any muffler you put onto the 3.8L will sound shatty.....now im mad

i know i didnt expext great things from it, but i still expected it to atleast sound good, and i dont even have that

please can anyone help me to pick the best sounding muffler....since all the clips you ever hear on the sites are of v8s with the mufflers....arrgg i need help please!!!

P.S. how do people record their cars sound and post it on here, cuz id like to do that to show you guys what I mean

also if i just bought the rumbler muffler would it fit right in with the rest of my american thunder cat back system??

I have a flowmaster 40 series, and a 3" i-pipe and I've gotten quite a few comments on the sound. Also, 3" cutouts sound good as well
As far as the tcp rumbler goes it should weld right up to your flowmaster catback after you take the flowmaster off, it may not go right to it perfect but any good exhaust shop will be able to fix that right up.

the TSP rumbler doesn't exactly have a muffler to weld up to it. it doesn't have a muffler at all. that's why it's so damn loud. just buy the rumbler cat-back and get the SLP install kit.

emjlr3, i have Flowmaster 80 series with a takeoff Intermediate pipe from a Z-28. So basically custom made 2.75" Cat-back. But heres what i have all together for exhaust..

pacesetter headers ceramic coated, y-pipe, 3"in/out hi-flow cat, 2.75" flowmaster catback.

http://www.geocities.com/timmackman1...haustClips.mpg

copy and paste into URL.. but first couple seconds is from outside of the car, then the rest is inside.. first acceleration is around 3k-4k rmp, then 2nd acceleration is punching it from 30mph. would put it as video but would be too big to host on my site

sounds good, im thinking about running a Z28 intermediate pipe, did it sound a lot better with it versus the stock piping?

emjlr3, isnt the flowmaster catback like 2.5"? if so, thats where you went wrong in the first place.

i dont know cuz i had headers to muffler all put on at same time.. so i dunno if the bigger i-pipe really made a difference sound wise.. but im sure it did overall

i thought it didn't have anything except a resonator, but a lot of people put the dynomax in there to tone it down a little.
maybe i'm thinking of the loudmouth
or maybe i'm just an idiot :D

I have the American thunder cat back and I love it because it doesnt sound like a V8. thats the reason I bought the car because it wasnt a V8. I cant wait to get headers and a cat because I think it would sound Awesome then.

i heard taht getting a 3" pipes arent good for a v6 and that you should go with 2.5"

i jsut got a new cat (high flow) because my other one was shot in the ***

made my exhaust sound 10 times better....still think i want headers on it though

getting 3" on your v6 is ok. im sure you heard it in conjunction with a rumor about not enough back pressure, which is just that, a rumor.
