  • what is the "free air mod" /and a stuped question

I have always hurd of V6 people talk of it and now that I have a Camaro I want to see what is involved. If I can rember right it involves cutting something.
And the second stuped question of the day is I am going to stop by the local auto parts store and inquire about a exhaust and what they offer. I have searched all over on line and either cant find what I am looking for or cant figure out how to get around a web sight.
I dont plane on making it a big issue, like I said before, I really only want to replace the stock single outlet muffiler with one simmiler but with 2 outlets, I dont care too much after that. So I guess the question to ask is what is the diameter of the stock pipe going into the muffiler is. What other questions will I need to ask? I am pretty mechanical and have a firend with a LOT of tools so I am pretty sure I can do anything myself, am I getting myself into something I should just pay someone elts to do?

Chrisz24, I think your best bet for a similar exhaust is to go over to camaroz28.com or ls1.com and pick up a V8 cat-back system. You can probably get it for at most $100 if you look. You also have the option of Flowmaster, Dynomax, or Borla which are all pretty good. I had the Flowmaster LS1 system on my 2000 Camaro 3.8, and I loved it.

As for the free ram air mod, simply cut the airbox below the filter. Instructions should be at www.installuniversity.com.

The stock I pipe should be 2.25"

I recommend a Dynomax muffler. (You are going to be annoyed by the sound of a V8 take off, or a flowmaster)

And I recoemnd buying it online.
