• Quieting down rumbler

I have had my pacesetters, rumbler, and hi flow cat on for about 3 months now. It definately sounds better than at first but it is very very loud. Dont get me wrong i love it being loud but i do alot of interstate driving and i cant even talk or listen to music on the road. It also attracts alot of attention being so loud (cops). I want something to quiet it down but i dont want to lose any flow from it. Any ideas?

yea im in the same boat. Headers, no cat, 3 inch pipes.. 80 series flowmaster muffler. I want to add a bullet muffler where the cat goes. but i dont know which ones are good in this type of situation. And i dont want it to kill my topend but it will prolly sound sweet with two mufflers.

yep, the dynomax bullet mufflers are a good place to start. As twistedbird listed above they come in 12 and 18 inch sizes. The 18 inch pretty much replaces the mid pipe that came with my magnaflow kit. Only the ends of the mid pipe were left over to connect to either side of the bullet.

A 12 inch bullet 'might' fit as a replacement for cat. The length might be off even though the cat is also 12". The end collars should be correct size, though...oversized like the cat...to slip over 3" pipes.

Don't worry about dynomax bullet inhibiting performance. It is a straight through perf tube, hardly a muffler at all. It does cut down on rasp...to pretty much nothing...and also gives car a real deep tough tone. awesome. Still pretty loud, however...but real beefy...not ricey.

With my system I can drive around town...but if I start to light things up...half throttle or so...people know I am coming. Put the hammer down and they wish I would just go away. ;)

Don't waste your time on another bullet muffler. The one on there is doing enough. if you want it more quiet, looks into the Borla XR1 bullet's, or Sweet Thunder's. They are highly favored on the LS1 boards, as many have gone through this same issue. A quick search on ls1tech.com will show the exact part numbers people are using too

I don't understand. How can the one muffler on there be doing enough if he says he wants it quieter? Or do you mean that one muffler in general is enough and he should just change to one of your recommendations?

you could always install headers and have a leak in the y-pipe. :( my car was quieter w/ the y-pipe leaking. hopefully i can get it sealed up.

I lack experience with the rumbler system. Maybe the rumbler kit already uses just a bullet type resonator rather than a traditional under gas tank oval muffler. If that is the case then...my earlier post is not much help.

Another bullet isn't going to help, period. it may rid it of a little more rasp, but I doubt it very seriously. Hense the waste of money.

If it needs to be more quiet, it needs a different muffler.
