• NEW Ram Air Idea

This applies to all 98+ firebird owners. Well we all have those small "nostrills" an the front of ours cars. I took a gander up it and I see that there is that hood peice that hangs down. I think it is used to help support the hood and give somewhere to attach the hood latch...well anyway I was thinking why not cut out two 3X5 card sized holes, one for each "nostrill" and affix some metal ducting in there to smooth it out. It would go striaght into the airbox right? What do you guys think.

And "HEY" to all ya, from thirdgen.org. This will be my new board though, since I no longer have my camaro.

EDIT: Forgot to say.... on the last link, go 3/4 way down the page where it says, "I made the nostrils on my regular Pontiac hood opened up to be a functional 'cold air' system"

    P.S. Welcome!

I bought a tungsten carbide cutter for my dremmel tool to do this... but when I was testing it on some spare steel I had around, I almost cut my hand off, so I decided to put this project on hold ;)

So, one of those guys used the fiberglass strip reinforced cutting disks... hmmm I don't think they are supposed to be used on steel, but it looked like they worked... guess that's why he said he went through 8

It's already been done. I saw it on a website that forgot the name of, but it's cool you brought it up. Alot of people don't know about it yet.

How would this work with an SLP CAI system? Would it benifit or would it hurt the system since SLP's CAI seals the airbox off completley with their supplied rubber gasket? I like the mod and I did this on my 78 Formula's hood years ago.
