I just ordered a cable operated cutout and was wondering how it works exactly...anyone else have one? And does it open AND close with the cable or only open?

Yeah i was really close to getting the quicktech one http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/qtec.htm thats what I am still debating yet everyone tells me cut outs are good, no wait cut outs suck. I can't make up my mind so just tell me how yours works for ya [img]smile.gif[/img]
I'm guessing you ordered one of the ones that's like JCWhitney's or the one at jegs where you pull on a cable and it moves this plate to open/close it. Not to get your hopes down, but supposedly those ones blow a$$. People I've talked to say they leak, and get stuck, don't close/open all the way, etc.
The one from quicktimeperformance is completely different, as its electronically opened/closed. That one works just fine, as it's a normal cutout, except with a motorized plate that opens/closes. That one's really good, just expensive.
That's one mean sounding GTP on that site. How does the cam(s) that people on this board have compare to that one, is it as rough as that? That would sound bad azz on our cars. It seems like the GTP's exhaust sounds cleaner than ours too, why is that?

I used to have one from JCWhitney and I speak from experience when I say that IT SUCKS. The cable is difficult to open and close and it doesn't seal all that way. When it is closed, it rattles like all hell. When it is open, it doesn't rattle and runs fine, but it sucks when it's closed.

Thanks for the info guys, but it's not a JC Whitney cutout. It's a generic one that I bought off E-bay so it's probably worse. I am an impulse buyer and I couldn't help it. I think I will make a bong out of it and buy a new one from somewhere else.
