on the new 3800s where the TB is straight, I have the Lid and !FRA I can see all the way to the ground. What would a CAI do that it's not doing now?

FORCE air into the intake.
colder air at that. so that the intake is not necessarily getting air that has been warmed up by the radiator.

Just make your own like i did...... total cost like 20 bucks compaed to 159.99 or whatever rediculous price they want for aftermarket CAI's, and YES it is the exact same measurements as FTRA

I just installed spl CAI kit, and boy, I'd say it's worth every penny of it! I paid $200 + 15 for shipping and handling. I don't get better milage because I'm doing 90+ every chance I get.
The car is more responsive, and the tranny moves more aggressively. Even beyon 100 m/h, the engine feels it has a lot more to give. Too bad it has some kind of limiter, won't let me go(or really hard to) beyon 115.
I don't know how the home made CAI looks like, but mine looks great! You get what you pay for! :DSunny Cali, T-top is the way to go! \'96 V6 3.8.
