on the I pipe there is a bend in it. does the pipe get bolted on with the bend downward toward the ground? or does it go toward the passenger side of the car? if it goes downward, it kills about 1 in of clearance. which is it?

You are probably talking about the S bend. What year b&b catback did you get? The "S Pipe" is refered to as the pipe the connects the I pipe to the Cat (in the shape of an S). If you got a catback for the LT1 93-95, it should come with the S bend too, i think... Take some pics...

well, i'll try to take some pics tomorrow. i think i put it together right. the pipe i was talking about was the one right behind the cat. i currently have the bend so that it faces slightly downward. it was the way that the pipes fit best. (least forcing)

goes sideways, for all the exhausts built for v8s and v6s are meant to bend sideways because a downward bend is a terrible idea on such a low car already.

or at least on the 6 different f-bodys that i looked at had sideways bends.

I put mine so it was bent facing down, that way gave me the best clearance over the axel so it wouldn't touch, also kept it away from the driveshaft, ya it looks low but i haven't had any probs

On mine if you were to look under the car from the rear facing forward, my bend is around the 7-8 o'clock position. I was wondering that myself when I was puttin it on. I just left it as is and not tighten the S-end and just finish up the rest to see how it aligns. And it seemed fine, so I left it and tightened it. The only prob right now are the loose rubber hangers. Need to replace with stiffer ones or get new hangers.

thanks a lot. appreciate all the feedback. i guess i'll leave it as is cause it was the best fitment. i have to do something about those rubber hangers too. oh well, all in good time.

put some dryer hose clamps around the hangers and tighten them down...makes the exhaust tight and won't sway left/right....home depot has them i think 2 1/2 inch diameters for 75 cents.

it's an old trick that works
